As long as your downline members stay active and pay their membership fees, your earnings don't dissipate.

Technically speaking, the more members you sign up, the more your income increases. Some affiliate programs let you earn commissions more than one level deep, therefore, affording you more income as a result. In other words, you receive commissions from your downline's downline, and their downline, and their downline, and so on.
